
An 84-year-old man is dead following a car crash Saturday night in south suburban Matteson.
Steven Toth was a passenger in a vehicle driven by his 84-year-old wife heading westbound on Vollmar Road when she turned southbound on Ridgeland Avenue and their vehicle was struck by an eastbound car at 10:35 p.m., according to Matteson police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Both vehicles had a green light.
Toth was on the side of the vehicle that was struck by the eastbound car, police said. He was taken to Franciscan St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights, where he was pronounced dead at 11:10 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. Toth lived in the 22700 block of South Butler Lane in Franklin.

The driver, Toth’s wife, suffered minor injuries and was also treated at a hospital, police said. She was cited for failure to yield.
