Kirby Elementary District 140 Searching For New Superintendent
School officials accepted the resignation of Shawn Olson on March 9 and the district has named Michael Byrne as its interim leader.

TINLEY PARK, IL — The Kirby Elementary School District will begin a search for a new superintendent after the district accepted their resignation for former superintendent Shawn Olson earlier this month
In a message to district parents sent on March 9, the district said it had accepted Olson’s resignation effective immediately. Olson had led the district since 2019 after the board approved his hiring in 2018. It is not clear what led to the move.
School officials gave no reasoning behind Olson's departure and no timeline was provided for a permanent superintendent to be in place.

Michael Byrne has been named as the interim superintendent, according to a message written by Byrne on Friday, saying he had been welcomed back so warmly by the District 140 community over the past week.
“I feel privileged to be here and am eager to get to work serving our students, staff, and community as I uphold and strengthen the tradition of excellence that KSD 140 has always been known for,” he wrote.
