TINLEY PARK, IL — Get your green ready, the 23rd annual Tinley Park Irish parade is set to step off Sunday, March 5.

The parade—which will feature nearly 80 floats, performances and walking groups—steps off at Central Middle School at 1 p.m. and will march north along Oak Park Avenue to 172nd Street.

WGN anchors Patrick Elwood and Dina Bair were recently announced as the event's grand marshals. Elwood joined WGN-TV in 2013. Career highlights include coverage of the 2005 World Series, two Blackhawks Championships, the 2007 Super Bowl and the 1995 Oklahoma City Bombing, for which he earned a Peabody Award.

Bair is an Emmy award-winning journalist who joined WGN-TV in 1994. She’s also the medical reporter for the “Medical Watch” segments on WGN Midday News, WGN Evening News and WGN News at Nine.

Revelers are invited to visit bars and restaurants along Oak Park Avenue during and following the parade. Village officials have also planned a special event from 3 to 5 p.m., to be held at Zabrocki Plaza, 17375 S. Oak Park Ave. Officials have touted a "special announcement" to be made during the event, which will also feature live music from Vision in the Rhythm. Food vendors will also be available, including A Sweets Girl, Local One, and Joey's Red Hots.
