Man Stuck Handgun In Woman's Face, No One In Custody In Tinley Carjacking: PD
Tinley Park police say reports that suspects have been taken into custody are false.
TINLEY PARK, IL — Tinley Park police continue the search for a suspect and a stolen car Monday, following an armed carjacking at a 7-Eleven late Sunday night.
A woman was accosted by a man in a black ski mask as she was at a gas pump at 9 p.m. Sunday at the store at 159th Street and 76th Avenue, Tinley Park Police Chief Matt Walsh said. The man threatened her and demanded she relinquish her car, she told police. Passengers in the backseat of the woman's Ford Edge were allowed to exit, before the suspect took the car and fled eastbound.
Reports that suspects are in custody are unfounded, Walsh said. Tinley Park Police have shared descriptions of the stolen car with other area police departments and Chicago Police in an attempt to locate it.
