Man Tried To Sell Pills, Heroin To Undercover Cop: Tinley Park Police

Police said an undercover officer used a fake Snapchat to contact John Halverson and arrange a meet where police were waiting for him.

TINLEY PARK, IL — An undercover Tinley Park police officer said a 25-year-old man attempted to sell him drugs over Snapchat, resulting in a sting operation that seized more than ten bags of heroin and other pills.

According to police, 25-year-old John Halverson was advertising drugs for sale using a Snapchat account. An undercover officer using a fake Snapchat account started a conversation with Halverson, who agreed to sell heroin and pills to the man and told him to meet him outside of his home.

On March 3, a team of officers met Halverson outside of his home instead. After searching the man, police said the found four types of controlled substances in pill form and eight bags of heroin.

After interrogating Halverson, police released the man while waiting for lab reports to verify the composition of the drugs. Halverson was taken into custody Friday after lab reports confirmed the pills and heroin to be controlled substances.

Legal records show Halverson is facing four counts of possession with intent to deliver and one count of possession of a controlled substance.
