Walsh said Poulos is well respected by many and that he's worked on several task forces both locally and federal. The chief also noted that Poulos was a lead investigator from 2018 to the present on the 2008 Lane Bryant Homicide Investigation, adding Poulos had also been an investigator on the case for at least 10 years.
According to Walsh, Poulos co-founded the police department's forensic unit. Walsh said various departments come to Tinley Park police to get forensic information from telephones and more.

"After the interviews and based on his experience, we've selected Tim," Walsh said. "I can't wait to get started and start working with him."

"I'd like to thank the mayor, the board and the village manager for giving me the opportunity to serve in this really exciting position for me, but also a very important position for the village. I hope I do y'all proud," Poulos said. "I'm looking forward to my new challenges in the position."
Poulos recognized his wife, children and friends, thanking them for coming to the meeting in support of his new position. The commander said his wife Patty is his rock, and that he's proud of his children who are both police officers as well.

Along with Poulos, Ahmad Allan was sworn in as a police officer at the meeting. Walsh said Allan is a former South Holland police officer and also worked for the Frankfort Police Department. Allan speaks fluent Arabic and Walsh said the department is fortunate to have him.
"I'd just like to thank the village board and the mayor for this opportunity," Allan said while complimenting the investigations department. "I'm glad I'm here and I'm looking forward to serving this community for the next 30 years."
