Olympia Fields Man Charged In 2020 Waukegan Carjacking, Shooting

TINLEY PARK, IL — A 20-year-old Olympia Fields man is being held on a $3 million bond after police said Kendrick Alverson shot a man during a carjacking in Waukegan.

Alverson is facing charges of attempted murder, aggravated vehicular hijacking, aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated battery for the Dec. 13, 2020 incident.

According to Waukegan police, two people were sitting inside a car in the 4200 block of Continental Drive when Alverson walked up to the car and fired shots into the vehicle. One of the people was struck in the abdomen and seriously injured.

Officials from the Lake County State's Attorney's Office approved charges against Alverson the following month and police were able to take the south suburban man into custody in February of this year.

Alverson is next scheduled to appear in court on March 16, court records show.
