One Less To Help One More: Donate To Domestic Violence Center

This October, the organization asks residents to cut back on Halloween spending and donate to the Crisis Center of South Suburbia.

TINLEY PARK, IL — October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the Tinley Park-based non-profit organization One Less To Help One More has dedicated its monthly challenge to donating to the Crisis Center of South Suburbia.

The organization was created in the summer of 2020 and is made up of Victor J. Andrew High School teachers. Its first event took place in August, and the organization hopes to continue to have monthly challenges to give back to different organizations and causes around suburban Chicago.

In October, the organization is asking people to cut back on spending this Halloween and donate the extra dollars to the crisis center. The organization said ways to cut back include:

  • Making your own costume this Halloween.
  • Buying one less bag of candy.
  • Only putting out candy on Halloween, rather than all month.
  • Using last year's decorations or only buying one new piece of décor.

The crisis center helps women, children and families as a whole, in a variety of ways. This includes providing housing, emergency shelter, food to eat and more. The non-profit community organization has been around for over 40-years and offers counseling, advocacy, outreach and prevention programs, according to the website.
