Procession Set For Former Tinley Fire Official, Road Closure Planned
Services for Doug Erwin, 52, of Manhattan, will be held Friday and Saturday. Congestion is expected along Oak Park Avenue.
TINLEY PARK, IL — Commuters are advised of heavy traffic and congestion along Oak Park Avenue anticipated Friday and Saturday, as a former Tinley Park assistant fire chief receives a final sendoff.
Doug Erwin, of Manhattan, died January 25 at 52 years old. Erwin served as the Tinley Park department's assistant chief for 28 years. He also was a full-time firefighter for Bedford Park, and division chief of the Naperville Fire Department for 20 years.
Visitation for Erwin will be held on Jan. 31 from 2 to 8 p.m., at Brady-Gill Funeral Home, 16600 S. Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Tinley Park. Interment will take place at Good Shepherd Cemetery, according to his obituary.

Commuters should expect heavy traffic and congestion along Oak Park Avenue from 167th to 159th streets from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, January 31 and Saturday, February 1, due to a partial road closure. The Tinley Park and Naperville fire departments will have trucks lined up on Oak Park Avenue, and additional neighboring fire departments are expected to participate.
Commuters are advised to use another route.
