TINLEY PARK, IL — Village officials will close a portion of 179th Street, to complete a large pump station project.

From Dec. 12 approximately Dec. 14, 179th Street will be closed from Elmwood Drive to Golden Pheasant Drive starting at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12 through Thursday, Dec. 14 for work at the water booster station at 179th Street and Golden Pheasant Drive.

The closure is for the west side zone booster station, Mayor Mike Glotz said on social media. The building has been built and inspected, and is designed to increase water pressure on the west side of the village.

"This is the largest facility Metropolitan Industries has constructed to house the pumps and controls," Glotz wrote. "It will be transported and set in place with a massive-sized crane. Due to the size of the crane, for safety measures it is mandatory to close down the road."

The road will be closed for certain Dec. 12–13, Glotz said. It could reopen on Dec. 14 if the project goes smoothly, he added.
