Student Of The Week: Jacob Klooster Loves School And Basketball

Jacob Klooster loves everything basketball and is a member of the National Junior Honors Society.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Students of all ages undergo stress, pressure and growth during their academic careers. Patch wants to highlight students in you community that have shown strength and courage during stressful learning situations amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

This week, we are highlighting Jacob Klooster, a student at Cardinal Joseph Bernardin School. Klooster is an eighth-grader who is a member of the National Junior Honors Society and plays piano.

Klooster is also involved in various clubs such as basketball, safety patrol, academic bowl, Marist math and more. He is also an honor roll student.

"I am so happy to be back at CJB this year. After learning from home for a few months last year I really appreciate how important it is to be back at school," Klooster said. "For me, learning is much more effective at school and I also enjoy seeing my friends and teachers every day. Wearing a mask all day and social distancing took some getting used to but it was definitely worth it."

Klooster is 13-years-old and plans to go to Marist High School. Some fun facts about him are he loves to travel and has been to Disney World 14 times. Basketball is his favorite sport and he loves everything about it — playing, watching and reading. Klooster said he also really enjoys playing golf.

CJB nominated Klooster, saying he shows respect, is a leader, always puts forth his best effort, always leads by example and that other students look up to him.
