Summit Hill 161 Interested In Buying Lincoln-Way North
Superintendent Tingley said several entities have expressed interest in the building, but no options have been presented to the district.
NEW LENOX, IL — In recent weeks, Lincoln-Way North has been a topic of conversation among many residents as several entities are looking into acquiring the building. The Summit Hill School District 161 Board of Education in Frankfort has approved a feasibility study about the possibility of becoming a K-12 unit school district and purchasing Lincoln-Way North. The board approved a contract with District Leadership Solutions, LLC, to perform the Unit District Feasibility study at its June 12 meeting.
The contract will cost $35,000, and will include a student enrollment study, a study on the impact of taxes in District 161 and District 210, and a study of the impact on District 161 taxes with the purchase of Lincoln-Way North, according to board documents.
The Summit Hill school district isn't the only district to recently express interest in purchasing the Lincoln-Way North building. Rich Township High School District 227 in Matteson has also reportedly expressed interest in using the building. Patch has reached out to the district for more information.
