SUV Plunges Into Tinley Pond After Driver Has Medical Emergency
VIDEO: The accident happened Tuesday afternoon, and the driver was taken to a local hospital.
TINLEY PARK, IL — A medical emergency caused a man to drive his SUV into a Tinley Park pond Tuesday afternoon, according to village authorities. The driver was able get out of the vehicle before it submerged in the water, and he was at the edge of the pond in the 18800 block of Oak Park Avenue, near CarMax, when emergency crews arrived, Assistant Village Manager Pat Carr said.
The driver was the only person in the vehicle, and he was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated, Carr said. No other vehicles were involved in the accident, and Carr said he didn't know what type of medical emergency the man suffered that caused him to drive into the pond.
Emergency crews have pulled the car from the pond, Carr said.
