Tinley Fire Officials Rescue Dog From Ice-Covered Pond
The dog that fell through the ice in a retention pond was rescued by a firefighter who crawled across the ice to pull it from the water.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Firefighters pulled a struggling dog from ice-covered water in a dramatic rescue on a frozen pond Tuesday morning.
The dog fell through the ice that covered a retention pond near 175th Street and 88th Avenue. She was about 15 feet from the shore.
Rescue crews tethered firefighter Steve Uthe to the shore, and he crawled across the ice to pull the dog from the icy water, fire officials said.

They both both returned safely to shore, and the pup was returned to its owners.
Later in the day, the dog, Jessie, and her owners stopped by the fire station to thank her rescuers, said Tinley Park Fire Chief Forest Reeder.
