Tinley Man Faces Charges After Fleeing Cops With AR-15 In Car: Police

Waseem Georgy, 20, was seen traveling at a high rate of speed in Oak Forest and tried to escape when police attempted to stop his car.

TINLEY PARK, IL — A 20-year-old Tinley Park man faces weapons charges after he was arrested by Oak Forest Park police last month when officers found an automatic weapon and ammunition in his car, police said on Tuesday.

Waseem Georgy was arrested last month after Oak Forest Police attempted to pull him over after he was seen traveling at a high rate of speed on April 28. Police said that Georgy fled when officers attempted to pull him over on Central Avenue in Oak Forest, police said.

However, when police used the Flock Safety license plate reader camera system to identify and locate the white Audi police said the man was driving, officers were able to locate the car. During a search, police said they found an AR-15 rifle and ammunition. The vehicle was impounded, and Georgy was placed under arrest, police said.

Georgy was charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding and unlawful use of a weapon, police said. The charges were approved by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.
