Tinley Park Firefighters Battle Oak Park Avenue Car Fire (VIDEO)
UPDATED: The blaze started following an accident Tuesday night near 173 Street and Oak Park Avenue, according to witnesses.
TINLEY PARK, IL — Firefighters responded to a car fire following a two-vehicle accident near 173 Street and Oak Park Avenue on Tuesday night, according to Tinley Park Fire Department radio reports. The accident happened around 8 p.m., and two ambulances were sent to the scene, the radio report stated.
Tinley Park police were still investigating the incident at around 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, and no details were being released at that time.
According to witnesses, a car hit an SUV in front of Freddie Bear Sports, 17250 Oak Park Ave. The SUV caught fire following the accident, and the other vehicle continued a short way down Oak Park Avenue, witnesses said.

Video footage from shortly after the accident happened show passers-by working to try to extinguish the burning SUV before firefighters arrive (WARNING: Video contains strong language.) Witnesses also are heard telling one another to keep clear of the vehicle in case of explosions.
