The shooting took place at 102nd and Indiana in Roseland as Rasheeda Fisher and her child, who was riding in the back seat, drove down 102nd Street at about 6:30 p.m. Shots rang out, shattering the windows of her SUV. Fisher told NBC Chicago she hunched down and put her foot on the gas. One bullet went past her head, she said, and another struck her in the arm.

“As I turned my head, I actually saw a bullet hole, so I sped off and told my daughter, ‘get down, get down Saida get down!’” Fisher told NBC. “I’m feeling this blood coming down and I got all this burning sensation coming through my whole body.”

She dialed 911 as she sped away, Fisher said, and was shocked to hear that help would not be dispatched because she was in a moving vehicle and would not stop.

Fisher told CBS Chicago she managed to drive to Roseland Hospital. A bullet remains in her right arm.
