Tinley Park Set To Sparkle In Tree Lighting, Holiday Happenings
Tinley Park's Holiday Happenings are set to begin Friday, Dec. 1, with events planned through Sunday, Dec. 3.
TINLEY PARK, IL — The Village of Tinley Park is set to kick off the season, with its highly anticipated Holiday Happenings event set for Friday, Dec. 1.
The event kicks off with the community tree-lighting ceremony at 6:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1 in Zabrocki Plaza, 17375 S. Oak Park Ave.
Following a holiday music sing-a-long at 5:30 p.m., Village officials will flip the switch to light the 35-foot community holiday tree. The Holiday Market is back, too, with new hours, officials said. Attendees are invited to stop inside the cozy warmth of a heated tent from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, and 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3. The market will feature unique items for purchase. Live music will be featured throughout the day, as well.

Children can visit with Santa, write letters to soldiers, meet Rudolph and many other activities.
This year also will feature an animated Holiday Walk in Zabrocki Plaza, officials said, "that will get you right in the festive spirit!"

"Bring your camera, because there will be plenty of opportunities to snap a few selfies as you go!"
The fun wraps up Sunday, Dec. 3, at 5 p.m., with the annual Parade of Lights along Oak Park Avenue from 175th Street to Subway. The parade will feature festive floats, vehicles, local businesses, community groups and school bands displaying the spirit of the season. Attendees can also expect appearances from guests from the North Pole.
