Unrelated Threats At Oak Forest High School Spark Investigations
Two Oak Forest High School incidents leave parents asking questions, but district officials say police are investigating and kids are safe.

OAK FOREST, IL — Bremen school district officials said that a set of alarming incidents that happened to Oak Forest High School students this week are not related and that investigations into both of them are ongoing. Students are safe, they said, and they promise to release more details after investigations conclude.
The first happened earlier this week and involved inappropriate social media post about a disagreement between two students. No other details are available because an investigation is pending, said district spokeswoman Jamie Bonnema.
In the second incident, someone on Thursday delivered a bomb threat in notes posted at the school saying they had placed seven explosives around the campus that would go off at different times. Police found no evidence of bombs at the high school. A criminal investigation is ongoing.

Principal Brad Sikora notified parents of the events through phone and email messages.
"I commend our students for being aware and bringing concerns to adults in the building," he wrote.

However, some parents on social media channels wondered whether the events were related, and said they were confused by the details. They said they questioned whether the district was covering up some issues.
"There definitely is no cover up," Bonnema said.
Details will be shared with parents when they become available, she added.
