1 In Custody For Stabbing Homeless Man On Bus: Police
The man in custody, who is also homeless, faces attempted murder charges. The man who was stabbed has been hospitalized.
VERNON HILLS, IL — A man is behind bars for stabbing a homeless man while both were riding a public bus Thursday night.
Errol O. Shakes, 51, who is also homeless, has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with great bodily harm and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in connection with the stabbing, which was reported just after 8 p.m.
The stabbing, authorities said, happened while the bus was heading south on Milwaukee Avenue between Greentree Parkway and Gregg's Parkway, according to a news release from the Vernon Hills Police Department.

The 58-year-old man who was stabbed was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center with significant injuries. He is listed in stable condition and is recovering, authorities said.
