Come Watch Local Artist Paint Mural On-Site At Hawthorn Mall

Here's when you can see emerging Chicago artist Myron Laban paint a 1,050-foot mural on-site at Hawthorn Mall.

VERNON HILL, IL β€” Beginning Sunday, April 21, community members are invited to come watch a local artist make part of Hawthorn Mall his canvas as he paints the first of four murals on-site at the shopping center. According to a release, Hawthorn Mall commissioned the series of murals to be painted at the shopping center. Myron Laban, a Des Plaines native, will create a 1,050-foot painting along the wall in the wing that adjoins the shopping mall's atrium, and the community can observe between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Sunday, April 21 and Wednesday through Friday, April 24 through 26.

Laban, a Chicago-area pharmacist and an emerging Chicago painter will be painting a mural that is an extension of his popular "Uplift" series which "represents the ability to keep moving during struggle while always maintaining hope," according to a release. In addition, the piece will "artistically depict the strength, resilience and care for one another demonstrated by the families who regularly visit Hawthorn Mall."
