Police Blotter: Man Charged After Intercourse with Teen

ALCOHOL

Javier Duarte-Espinosa, 48, of 26206 N. Hickory Road, Mundelein, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving under the influence while his driver’s license was revoked, and aggravated driving while his license was revoked March 1 at Townline and Butterfield roads. He was remanded on a $25,000 bond. His court date was not available.

Tamika L. Shields, 33, of 6386 28th St., Kenosha, Wis., was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content above .08, possession of cannabis, driving on a suspended license and improper parking on a roadway March 4 at Route 45 and Town Center Road. She was released on a $3,000 recognizance bond and given a March 27 court date in Waukegan.

Luis G. Lopez-Arellano, 27, of 18 E. Old Willow Road, Prospect Heights, was charged with driving under the influence, driving without a valid license, driving without insurance and improper lane use March 10 at Hawthorn Parkway and Indianwood Drive. He was given a $3,000 recognizance bond and an April 24 court date in Waukegan.

BATTERY

Joel M. Kraiman, 49, of 216 S. Thorne Grove Drive, Vernon Hills, was charged with battery March 9 at Lifetime Fitness, where police said he pushed a victim during an argument. He posted a $120 cash bond and was given an April 11 court date in Mundelein.

BURGLARY

Two men and a teenager were charged with burglary after they allegedly entered two homes Feb. 27 at 240 E. Court of Shorewood and took items without the owner’s consent. Marcus A. Najera, 25, of 905 East Court of Shorewood, was charged with two counts of burglary and one count of theft. Ricardo Poblete, 19, of 905 East Court of Shorewood, was charged with burglary and possession of stolen property. Both appeared at a bond hearing and were remanded on $100,000 bonds. They have March 27 court dates in Waukegan. Also charged with burglary was a 16-year-old boy who was referred to juvenile court.

DRUGS

A 14-year-old boy was charged with delivery of cannabis Feb. 20 at Vernon Hills High School after he admitted selling it at the school. A 15-year-old girl was charged with possession of cannabis. The teens were referred to juvenile court.

Adam P. Leja, 22, of 3405 E. Mardan Dr., Long Grove, and Francisco A. Martinez Jr., 23, of 112 N. Frolic, Waukegan, were charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia March 9 while police were investigating a suspicious vehicle on the 600 block of Woodlands Parkway. Police said they found cannabis, cannabis pipes, a scale and other paraphernalia. The men posted $120 cash bonds and were given April 11 court dates in Mundelein.

SEXUAL ABUSE

John A. Redmond, 25, of 2103 Washington St., Waukegan, was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual abuse and resisting arrest March 8 at Hawthorn Lanes, 316 Center Drive, after he admitted to having consensual sex with a 15-year-old girl. He fought with officers during his arrest, police said. His court date was not available.

THEFT

A 17-year-old boy was charged with retail theft March 1 at Mariano’s, after he left the store without paying for $33.16 in vodka. His court date is April 11 in Mundelein.

Walter J. Wright, 24, of 1923 Wallace Ave., North Chicago, was charged with retail theft March 2 after he left Kohl’s without paying for $152 in jewelry. His court date is April 11 in Mundelein.

A 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy were charged with retail theft March 5 at JC Penney after leaving the store without paying for $126 in clothing. They were given April 11 court dates in Mundelein.

A 17-year-old girl was charged with two counts of retail theft March 5 at JC Penney after leaving without paying for $155 in jewelry from two stores in Hawthorn. Her court date is April 11 in Mundelein.

Julie J. Waryck, 21, of 26267 N. Highland Drive, Mundelein, was charged with retail theft March 10 at Target, after police said she left the store without paying for multiple bottles of liquor. She posted a $150 cash bond. Her court date was not available.
