Why are you running?

I am running for this very important entry level office of local government because I feel a need for a more direct line of communication betwen the board and our residents and business's.

I do not believe reform is needed. I believe Refresh is the more appropriate mission.

In what ways would the village benefit from your service?

I believe the village would benefit from me the closer contact I have with the concerns of the local businessman. I would make an effort to discover what the requirements are to attract interested business to our village and more important to keep existing revenue generators here.

What is the biggest challenge the village faces and what should be done to address it?

The biggest challenge I feel is to make better fiscal decisions. We are a no tax community with a surplus at the present time. This does not mean the board should spend the money just for the simple reason that they have it.

What do you think the village does well?

I believe we have one of the cleanest towns in Lake County; our public works department does a stand up job in every aspect of their delegated duties.

We have a dedicated Police department with a true sense of public service and protection. I truly believe after talking with residents that they feel safe in their homes and within the reaches of the protection area charged to our Police department.

What should be some of the village’s priorities over the next four years?

Future priorities include: Curbing unnecessary spending, more attention to keeping and attracting revenue generators, a stronger drug prevention education program.

What else would you like voters to know?

The voters should know that if elected I will do my best to protect their interests at the village hall. I believe in establishing a communication through me to express their concerns. I will have a closer contact with village department heads to discover their needs and concerns and also to convey to them the feedback I receive from our residents and business's.

I have lived in Vernon Hills all of my adult life (since 1978) and have raised four children here. One of witch is a United States Marine and another that owns a business here. I currently have two granddaughters that live here and I am hoping to see them benefit from this great community as we all have.
