Vernon Hills board schedules vote on proposed development
Melody Farm has potential to bring in businesses, but the developer is requesting funds from the village.

Vernon Hills Village officials will consider permits and a tax subsidy for the $200 million Melody Farm subdivision in the coming weeks, according to the Vernon Hills Review. The development would be located at Townline Road and Milwaukee Avenue, and it would include 260 apartments, a Whole Foods, and other retail space.
The Village Board will consider permits for the development during its regular meeting on November 15. A separate meeting will be held on November 29 for a $20 million tax subsidy to Regency Centers, the developer of the project.
The current plan includes the village raising $18 million in bonds to pay for the subsidy. Village Trustees Cindy Hebda and Thom Koch expressed concern over granting such a large sum to Regency Centers.
