Vernon Township Hosts 'Recycle-O-Rama' Saturday

Items from old batteries and gym shoes to books and latex paint will be accepted at the Vernon Township "Recycle-O-Rama" event on Saturday in recognition of Earth Day.

To celebrate Earth Day, Vernon Township Highway Commissioner Bryant Schroeder, in cooperation with the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO), have organized the second annual Recycle-O-Rama.

The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20 at the Vernon Township/Highway Department Offices located at 3050 N. Main St., in Buffalo Grove.

Electronics, gym shoes, florescent bulbs (up to 4 feet), corks (no plastic), batteries (including car), CDs, DVDs, media disks, cassette tapes, hearing aids, eye glasses and accessories, cell phones, keys, aluminum tabs, ink cartridges, crayons, gently used books, propane tanks, fire extinguishers and latex paint for a small fee.

Confidential document shredding will also be available.

There will also be a collection of non-perishable food for the Vernon Township Food Pantry. 

Volunteering at this event will be the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and students from Stevenson and Vernon Hills High Schools.
