Village Board Creates Louisiana Flood Relief Fund

Donations will go to the Baton Rouge Foundation.

The village board recently announced plans to hold a campaign to solicit donations for victims of the recent flooding in Louisiana. Thirteen people died in the disaster and upwards of 100,000 homes were damaged in the historic rainfall that hit Louisiana on Aug. 12, according to Al Jazeera. The American Red Cross and other non-profits such as the Baton Rouge Foundation have responded by introducing fundraising efforts specifically for this natural disaster.

In recognition of the 10th annual Oktoberfest, the village will match donations on a $1 to $1 basis up to $5,000 prior to and at the event for flood relief. Donations will go to the Baton Rouge Foundation that will direct charitable donations to other non-profit organizations throughout the affected region.

You can make a donation at the village's fundraising page here: classy.org/VernonHillsIllinois.
