WARN reports show layoffs ahead for over 1,100 Illinois workers (pjstar.com) — More than 80 Vernon Hills jobs are set to disappear as Consolidated Hospitality Supplies closes its Vernon Hills facility and Remke Industries plans phased layoffs starting in January 2026. These cuts are part of over 1,100 Illinois layoffs disclosed in recent WARN notices, affecting local workers and potentially rippling through the village’s economy. 
2. Spring Grove man reported missing, in 'very confused' state as sightings reported in several Lake County towns (lakemchenryscanner.com) — Police are asking Vernon Hills residents to watch for an 84-year-old Spring Grove man whose Subaru Forester was tracked on Route 60 in Vernon Hills Wednesday morning while he was reportedly very confused. He has been missing since Tuesday evening, and anyone who believes they see him is urged to call 911 immediately with details about his location and vehicle.
3. Where To Recycle Holiday Trees In Lake County: Forest Preserves Drop-Off Locations (patch.com) — Vernon Hills residents can recycle real, undecorated Christmas trees at Half Day Forest Preserve daily from 6:30 a.m. to sunset through Feb. 1. Lake County Forest Preserves will turn most donated trees into wood chips for trails and landscaping, with some used to create underwater fish habitats.
4. Conant Edges Maine East For Mejoe Hernandez Girls Wrestling Invite Title (journal-topics.com) — Vernon Hills’ girls wrestling team scored 90 points to place mid-pack in a 23-team Mejoe Hernandez Invite at Maine East, where Conant edged the hosts for the title. The meet highlighted growing girls wrestling depth across nearby suburban schools, with several programs earning multiple individual medals.
