During a snow event, it is possible that the force from the snow rolling off the blade of the snowplow may unintentionally cause damage to your mailbox and post; especially if your mailbox is in a weakened state going into the winter season. Therefore, we encourage residents to check the stability of your mailbox prior to the first measurable snow fall and make any necessary repairs ahead of time. If you should experience mailbox damage during a snowplow operation, please report the damage immediately after noticing the damage to the Public Works Department by calling 847-367-3726. All damage reports must be made and filed with the Public Works Department by April 15, 2022 to qualify for the damaged mailbox program. Please click the link below to view the Village's Mailbox and Installation Guidelines for replacement and reimbursement options for a damaged mailbox.
