The Winter Coat Drive for veterans and their families is underway through November 16. Organized by the GLMV Chamber of Commerce, the collection accepts new and gently used coats and winter gear for all ages and sizes – the Midwest Veteran's Closet serves not only veterans and enlisted, but also their families. 

Drop off locations in Vernon Hills include Village Hall (290 Evergreen Dr), VH Police Department (740 Lakeview Parkway), VH Park District Sullivan Center (635 N. Aspen Drive), and VH GLMV Chamber Members, including – City BBQ (Mellody Farm), DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen (1000 Butterfield Road), Hawthorn Mall (Mall Office at lower level near JCPenney or at Security Office), Integral Medical (3 Hawthorn Parkway #280), Northwestern Mutual (3 Hawthorn Parkway), T-Mobile (850 Milwaukee & Rt 60/Milwaukee), Willow Lawn Memorial Park/Arrowood Pet Cemetery (24090 N. US 45), and Vernon Hills Bank & Trust (1101 Lakeview Parkway).
