Watch Local Artist Paint 4,224-ft. Mural On-Site At Hawthorn Mall
Here's when you can see Chicago-based artist Anthony Lewellen paint a huge mural on the exterior of the mall's former Sears building.

VERNON HILL, IL β Community members are invited to come watch a local artist make part of Hawthorn Mall his canvas as he paints one of four murals being created on-site at the shopping center May 5 through May 19. According to a release, Hawthorn Mall commissioned the series of murals to be painted at the shopping center. Anthony Lewellen, a Chicago-based artist, will paint 4,224-foot painting along the shopping centerβs former Sears building.
According to a release, "Lewellen employs a simple, bold palette and emotionally complex characters to depict his own direct observations about life in the city."
His art is described as quintessentially Chicago, and the images he creates "tell an unspoken story about this urban landscape," a release said.

The center invites the community to come watch Lewellen as he works (weather permitting) 10 a.m. to 6 a.m., Mondays through Fridays through May 19.
