• Man convicted of murder in 2022 Waukegan shooting (chicagotribune.com) — A Waukegan man has been convicted in the 2022 fatal shooting of a driver sitting in a car on Chestnut Street, with prosecutors tying him to the scene through surveillance video and cell phones. He now faces at least 40 years in prison and is scheduled for sentencing in January, closing a major chapter in a high-profile local homicide case.
   

• High school scores for Dec. 15 (dailyherald.com) — Waukegan’s boys basketball team notched a 59–46 win over Hoffman Estates, and the boys bowling squad is set to visit Mundelein’s Lakeside lanes this afternoon. The roundup also lists dozens of other area high school scores and today’s game times if you follow regional teams beyond Waukegan.
   

• Former Gurnee man gets $13M settlement in false conviction suit: ‘We hope this settlement will help him … find peace in the years ahead' (chicagotribune.com) — A long-running Lake County murder case with ties to Waukegan has ended in a $13 million settlement for Herman Williams, who spent 28 years in prison before his conviction was vacated. His ex-wife’s body was found at Midlane Country Club in Waukegan in 1993, and Williams’ attorneys say altered evidence led to his wrongful conviction, which he has fought for decades.
