Man convicted in 2022 shooting of Waukegan Dollar General store worker (fox32chicago.com) — A man has been convicted in the 2022 shooting of a Dollar General employee on Grand Avenue in Waukegan, where a 19-year-old worker was shot in the face while stopping a suspected shoplifter. Jurors found 22-year-old Kaleb Brown guilty of aggravated battery with a firearm, a charge that carries a potential sentence of six to 30 years in prison, with sentencing set for January 26.

Illinois man pleads guilty in Missouri to stolen check scheme (kttn.com) — A man from Waukegan has pleaded guilty in federal court in St. Louis to a multi-state bank fraud scheme built on stolen checks and fake IDs. Prosecutors say he used stolen mail and forged documents to open bogus accounts, attempted to deposit more than $200,000, and now faces a potential decades-long prison sentence at a March 2026 hearing.
