2 Western Springs Businesses Fail Liquor Compliance Check

Three businesses passed an underage liquor compliance check in Western Springs while two others failed.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL - Two of the five Western Springs businesses that were tested for compliance with underage liquor laws last week failed the check. Both Salerno's Pizzeria & R Bar, 821 Burlington Ave. and Vie, 4471 Lawn Ave. failed the compliance check on Dec. 27, according to the Illinois Liquor Control Commission.

For Vie, the fail was the second since they were listed as having one prior violation on their record, the ILCC said in a news release.

Three businesses passed the check, which included an underage person recruited from a high school or college who went into the businesses and attempted to buy alcohol.

Davanti Enoteca, 800 Hillgrove Ave., Hillgrove Tap, 800 Hillgrove Ave. and Mariano's, 4700 Gilbert Ave. passed the check. Davanti Enoteca had one prior violation prior to passing this time.

The ILCC conducted the check in partnership with Western Springs police.

Western Springs is the latest site of the ILCC's compliance checks, which include teams randomly visiting liquor stores, restaurants and bars in communities around the state to check for ongoing compliance with state laws mandating that no liquor is sold to persons under 21 years old.
