4 Western Springs Students Get Scholarships

The scholarships are from the Coach Simon Memorial Tennis Scholarship fund.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Four Western Springs graduates of Lyons Township High School this week received $1,000 each from the Coach Simon Memorial Tennis Scholarship fund.

Simon Piacente died unexpectedly earlier this year. He was Western Springs' tennis director.

The Friends of the Western Springs Parks Foundation, the Western Springs Park District and the Western Springs Recreation Dept have coordinated and formed a Scholarship Committee to raise funds and award the scholarships. The scholarship was spearheaded by The Friends of the Western Springs Parks Foundation and The Coach Simon Memorial Scholarship Committee.

The recipients are:

  • Scarlett Rahman, 2024 LT grad, plans to attend University of Iowa, Finance
  • Melissa Blouin, 2023 LT grad, attends Clemson University, Special Education
  • Theo Borgeois, 2024 LT grad, plans to attend Purdue University, Mechanical Engineering
  • Mason Mazzone, 2024 LT grad, plans to attend University of Missouri, International Business
