Brewery In Western Springs? Village Aims To Be Ready
A brewery is seen as "an economic driver to bring other potential businesses" to town.
WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs has no brewery, but officials want to prepare in case someone asks to open one.
On Monday, the Village Board was told that two village committees have requested setting up a classification for brewery liquor licenses.
Officials said the village has no pending applications for a brewery.

Heather Valone, Western Springs' community development director, said the village's Liquor Commission sees breweries more as "an economic driver to bring other potential businesses" to town.
Village President Heidi Rudolph called it a "proactive change."

The board took no vote on the issue.
The village is also considering changing its liquor code to let a gas station sell beer and wine.
