• House Fire In Western Springs Reported (patch.com) — Western Springs residents learned that firefighters quickly contained a house fire Wednesday night in the 5300 block of Woodland Avenue. Village officials say the blaze was accidental, and an investigator is reviewing the specific factors that led to the incident.
   

• Part Of South Campus Floods From Pipe Issue (patch.com) — A sprinkler system failure at Lyons Township High School’s South Campus in Western Springs sent about 2,000 students briefly outside Monday before they were moved into the fieldhouse. A frozen pipe burst near the performing arts center, flooding the J and C wings, and classes in those areas were disrupted while staff and maintenance crews worked to clean up and restore normal operations.
