Burglar Forced Open Front Door While Residents Were Home: Police
A burglar broke into a Western Springs home Feb. 8, police say.

Western Springs, IL - Western Springs police are investigating a home burglary that took place around 7 p.m. Feb. 8 in the 4700 block of Howard Avenue.
A man reportedly forced open a front door while residents were home, according to Western Springs police.
While the burglar was inside, another resident came home, and the burglar immediately left the property, police report.

The burglar got into a silver sedan that might have had temporary Illinois registration plates that started with ”450.” The man is described as in his mid-30s with some type of facial hair, police reported.
Nothing was reported stolen, and no one was injured in the burglary.

Western Springs Police have provided following crime prevention tips to residents:
Don’t be an easy target:
- Keep your doors locked.
- Don’t let anyone into residence without an appointment.
- Don’t keep large amounts of cash in residence.
- Keep jewelry and valuables in safe/secured place.
Be a good neighbor and report:
- Any vehicle without lights at night, traveling slowly, or following a course that seems aimless or repetitive is suspicious in any location.
- An individual or a group of individuals walking around in the evening/early morning hours that look suspicious.
Residents are asked to call 911 immediately to report any suspicious activity or people.
