D101's 'Mr. Al' Dies at 78: Western Springs Obituaries

Allan Roessler, 78, died at home in Western Springs on Dec. 28 after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Roessler is a native of Chicago who attended theΒ Parker School for the Deaf,Β graduated from Chicago Vocational High School, and attended the University of Arizona. He is the husband of Ineke, father of Steve and Brian, and grandfather of Emerson and Teddy. Mr. Roessler was known as "Mr. Al" at District 101, where he worked for many years. He also volunteeredΒ at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will take place at 10 a.m.Β Jan. 11 atΒ the Congregational Church of Western Springs, with a reception to follow.Β An obituary for Mr. Roessler was published in the Chicago Tribune on Jan. 1.

Genevieve J. Janis, nee Repel, 98, was a resident ofΒ Western Springs and is the formerΒ owner of Gene's Kiddies Fashion Shop in Chicago. She is the wife of the late George, mother of ClaudineΒ Snow, grandmother of Dale Snow and Letitia Taylor, andΒ great-grandmother of Gabryella and Alexis Taylor. A visitation was held Friday, Jan. 3, atΒ Hallowell & James Funeral Home in Countryside and a funeral mass was held Saturday, Jan. 4, atΒ St. John of the Cross Church in Western Springs. DonationsΒ to Helping Hand of Countryside or Masses are encouraged. An obituary for Ms. Janis was published in theΒ Chicago Tribune from Jan.Β 2 to Jan.Β 3.

Ramona Heinemann, 1920-2013, was a longtime resident of Western Springs and lately a resident of Plymouth Place.Β Ms. Heinemann is the wife ofΒ Bill andΒ mother of Larry, Mike, Ken and Ellen. An obituary for Ms. Heinemann was published in Jan. 2-8 edition ofΒ The Doings.
