"As for my reason for running, it's the same as it was in 2009. Western Springs has provided a wonderful and safe environment for raising my family. I did not appreciate that early on. My focus was a great commute to downtown Chicago and wonderful parish and school for our daughters at St. John of the Cross. From 1983 when we first moved to Western Springs to November 2000 when I retired, I did not involve myself in the village. I caught a 7 A.M. train and returned at 7 P.M. Great commute, but no village involvement. With retirement came my reflection on this great community. I realized how much I had been given and decided that now that I had the time, it was my turn to give back and in some way do what I could to continue to keep and make this village a truly wonderful community to raise a family and enjoy life. I am hoping that in the next 4 years, we can get the TIF (Tax Incremental Financing) zone established. The time is right. And the downtown area needs the financial assistance."
