Northern Illinois University BSE 1958
Northern Illinois University MSE 1960
Post graduate work - University of Illinois - 1962-1968 (part time)

Current Occupation and Employer:

35 years in public secondary education as a teacher, dean, assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent for Proviso Township High Schools
20 years as a hearing officer for a number of suburban junior and senior high schools in cases involving disciplinry violations and residency.
Totally retired as of June 2011

Political Party Affiliation: None

Why are you seeking office?: Incumbent - I have served four years as a trustee on the Thomas Ford Memorial Library Board and to date, I have enjoyed my experience in that capacity. As chair of the Building and Grounds Committee, we have installed a new roof, HVAC units, tuckpointed the building, repaired our tiled roof, installed a new sign, replaced sidewalks and completed a number of projects of lesser importance. If re-elected, I hope to do my part in maintaining the exemplary reputation that the TFML has consistently enjoyed as one of the finest in the Chicago Suburban area.

What sets you apart from the other candidates (if applicable)?: The past four years have allowed me to work with and share ideas with the other six members on the library board and the library director. Very few if any differences set me apart from the others since our decisions and efforts follow a similar pattern of unity. A review of Board minutes and votes on a number of important issues will support this belief.

What are the other issues you plan to address in this position, and how?: Much has been done during the last several years to improve the appearance and operation of the library. As chair of the Building and Grounds Committee, our first priority in 2013 must be to consider the replacement of windows with those of energy-efficient design.  A second project for consideration will be the the installation of security cameras throughout the library. Of course, funding for these projects must come from tax dollars as they become available.
