Fireworks Display Lights Up the Night Thursday

Baby, youβre a firework:Β The Park District of La Grange joins forces with the city of Countryside Thursday for afireworks displayΒ welcoming the dog days of summer. The fun starts at 6:30 with an opening musical act, followed at 7 p.m. by a two-hour set from the Piano Man. Fireworks are scheduled to begin around 9:15 p.m. Bring your own snacks or buy a slice from Ledoβs Pizza, which will also be selling drinks and dessert. The event takes place at Countryside Park, 630 61st Street in Countryside. Additional parking and viewing space is available at City Park, which is at 60th and Ashland. Questions? Veterans memorial closer to reality:Β Fundraising is underway for theΒ Community Park District of La Grange Parkβs proposed veterans memorial. In less than four weeks, the park district has raised about $27,000 toward the $85,000 it hopes to gather by yearβs end. Read more about it in theΒ park districtβs blog.
