Free Health Clinic Set In Western Springs

A variety of services will be offered to those who cannot afford it, a hospital chain said.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – A free medical clinic is set for later this month in the gym at Lyons Township High School's South Campus.

The clinic is set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 14. It is being put on by UChicago Medicine AdventHealth, a chain with hospitals in Hinsdale and La Grange.

Attendees will not be required to report their legal status or present identification or insurance cards, according to the chain's news release.

The services include dental exams, diabetes and nutrition education, vision screenings, laboratory screenings (glucose, cholesterol, urinalysis and pregnancy tests, among others), orthopedic care, school sports physicals, free medication, physical therapy, podiatry and primary care.

Dozens of clinic and nonclinical volunteers are expected to be on hand.

Clinic attendees will be able to connect with ongoing care and social services, receive specialty referrals, and gain affordable medications, the news release said.

Earlier this year, a similar clinic was held in Glendale Heights, helping more that 100 people who could not afford health care.

"Our physicians and other team members will provide essential medical care to people facing financial hardship, helping us fulfill our mission by addressing healthcare gaps in our communities," Heather Hoffman, regional director of clinical mission integration for UChicago Medicine AdventHealth, said in a statement.
