About The H Foundation
The H Foundation was founded by a few friends with entrepreneurial spirits after the loss of a loved one from breast cancer. Determined to put their grief into action they created and hosted the Goombay Bash -- named after a tropical cocktail -- a fundraising gala disguised as a casual Caribbean-style party which attracts sports and entertainment celebrities to Navy Pier every summer.
Since 2001, The H Foundation has raised over $12 million donating nearly every dollar raised to the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. These funds are used as seed money for basic science cancer research projects that earn additional government or private funding based on promising discoveries. Our dollars have been leveraged into over $250 million of additional funding. The H Foundation is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization. 100% of its funding comes from donations by generous businesses, communities, families, and individuals.
