Identity Theft and $7K of Stolen Construction Equipment: Western Springs Police Blotter

Take a look at what the Western Springs police have been up to for the past week.

The following items were taken from the Western Springs police blotter.

Identity theft

  • A resident living on the 500 block of Rugeley Road reported Dec. 12 that someone had used their personal information to open a cell phone account and purchase four iPhones, which totalled $2,761.87. The resident said the theft had occurred on or around Dec. 3.

  • Someone stole $7,000 worth of construction equipment from a residential site on the 5200 block of Lawn Avenue between the evening of Dec. 8 and morning of Dec. 9. The equipment, which was unattended, included power tools, an air compressor and a generator.

Traffic violations

  • Victor Liang, 28, was stopped while driving around 9:41 p.m. Dec. 9 for speeding, and was subsequently charged with driving with a suspended license and no insurance, possession of drug paraphernalia and for having a small amount of marijuana in his car. He was arrested near 55th Street and I-294.
  • Jesus Venzor, 22, was also stopped for speeding early in the morning on Dec. 10. After checking his records, cops also charged him with driving with a suspended license.
