Man Accused of Head-Butting Metra Conductor Over Request for Train Fare

A 64-year-old Roselle man faces charges after authorities said he head-butted a Metra conductor in the face Monday evening.

The incident occurred after the conductor approached Jack Kamysz, of 22W118 Irving Park Road in Roselle, for his fare at about 6:54 p.m. on July 6, according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office press release.

The train conductor attempted to escort Kamysz out of the vestibule after Kamysz used vulgar language, according to the news release.

The head-butting broke the conductor’s nose. The incident occurred as the Metra train approached the Bensenville station. Metra police removed Kamysz from the train, prosecutors said.

Kamysz is being held on a $50,000 bond, according to the news release.

“The allegations against Mr. Kamysz are outrageous,” said DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office Robert Berlin “This type of unprovoked attack on a man who was just doing his job will not be tolerated in DuPage County and will be met with the full force of the law.“

Kamysz has been charged with one count of Aggravated Battery to a Transit Employee, a Class 3 Felony. His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 3 in front of Judge Liam Brennan.
