LT Hopes to Name New Principal Next Month

Lyons Township High School board members could name a new principal at the Dec. 16 board meeting to replace David Franson, who is leaving in 2014 after 10 years in the position.

TheΒ Lyons Township High SchoolΒ District 204 boardΒ could name their pick for the new principal as early as next month, District 204Β Spokesperson Jennifer Bialobok said Wednesday.Β 

After 10 years as principal,Β David Franson announced in SeptemberΒ that he'll step down as principalΒ next year.Β HeΒ toldΒ theΒ DoingsΒ in SeptemberΒ he plans to travel, take classes and volunteer after heΒ leaves LT.

To form a "leadership profile," describingΒ what stakeholders would want to see in a new principal, district advisory committee members met with staff, parents and students, Bialobok said.Β

"We’re confident we have a really good feel for what it is that we’re looking for," said Bialobok. The district stopped accepting applications for Franson's replacement on Oct. 31.

"We do hope to name that principal at the December board meeting," she said, noting the timing could change.Β

The new principal would start his or her 12-month position July 1, 2014. The board's next regular board meeting is Monday, Dec. 16.Β
