No Low-Income Students In Western Springs: State

Local students perform well on standardized tests, according to data.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – No students in Western Springs District 101 were reported as having come from low-income families in 2022.

Historically, schools with few low-income students perform better on standardized tests. Western Springs is no exception.

In 2022, 70 percent of the district's students met or exceeded standards on the Illinois Assessment of Readiness in English language arts, according to the Illinois Report Card website. In math, 68 percent of students reached that standard.

Among area districts, only Hinsdale District 181, with a 2 percent low-income rate, scored in the same neighborhood. There, 72 percent and 71 percent of students met or exceeded standards in English language arts and math, respectively.

On the other end, Burr Ridge District 180, where nearly 90 percent of students are low-income, 16 percent met or exceeded standards in English language arts and math.

Statewide, 30 percent of students met standards in English language arts and 26 percent in math. Nearly half of students in Illinois come from low-income families.
