Oak Brook Crash Injuries Fatal for Elderly Brookfield Driver

The Brookfield woman's car was disabled on 31st Street in Oak Brook when the crash occurred.

Oak Brook, IL - One driver died in a two-car crash Tuesday on eastbound 31st Street in Oak Brook, near Interstate 294.

An 86-year-old Brookfield woman was found unresponsive at the crash site, according to Oak Brook police.

The woman was given medical attention and taken to a local hospital, but she was later pronounced dead as a result of her injuries.

The other driver, a 27-year-old man from Villa Park, was also taken to a local hospital for evaluation, but he didn’t report any serious injuries, according to police.

Oak Brook Police and Fire departments were called around 11:27 a.m. Dec. 8 for the crash between a white GMC Sierra, driven by the Villa Park man, and a disabled red Ford Escort, driven by the Brookfield woman.

The Ford was disabled in the right lane of eastbound 31st Street when a car, also in the right lane, changed lanes suddenly, according to initial statements. The GMC behind that car hit the disabled Ford.

The DuPage County Coroner and the Felony Investigative Assistance Team were contacted and arrived at the scene to help Oak Brook police and to conduct a crash reconstruction.

The crash is still being investigated.
