Police Debunk Student's Threat to Bring Gun to LTHS Wednesday
Police were warned of the threat Tuesday evening, but after investigation found it was empty.
A perceived threat that a student would be arriving at Lyons Township High School South with a gun Wednesday was a false alarm, Western Springs police have announced.
Police received a report of the possible threat at 5:39 p.m. Tuesday evening and immediately alerted school staff, WSPD reported in a release. The same evening, they interviewed a person of interest in the case and determined the threat of a firearm was empty.
Still, police and Lyons Township School District 204 said they donβt believe the incident was completely innocent β it could be related to a physical fight between students early this week on the South campus.

The students involved have been disciplined, the school said, and both WSPD and District 204 will take necessary criminal actions as they move forward.
Though the threat of an armed student was nullified, Western Springs police still plan to heighten patrol around the South campus for the rest of the week.
