Scam Artists Outside Western Springs Store: Cops

In another case, a trio was charged with trespassing, police said.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs police released their latest blotter this week. Here is information from the reports:

Scam

  • A woman told police Friday about fraudulent activity on her credit cards after trying to donate money to two people outside of Mariano's, 4700 Gilbert Ave. In recent months, scam artists have asked for donations outside area stores, receiving the money by credit card.

Trespassing

  • A 22-year-old and two youths were charged Wednesday with criminal trespassing in a January incident in the 6000 block of Burr Oak Drive. They turned themselves in to the local police.

Counterfeit currency

  • A resident in the 4000 block of Clausen Avenue told police March 5 about selling an item online, but the buyer used counterfeit currency. The item's value was $425.

No valid driver's license

  • A 33-year-old Harvey man was charged about 9 p.m. Saturday at Ogden and Hampton avenues on charges of having no valid driver's license and speeding.
  • A 49-year-old Summit man was charged about 5 p.m. March 10 at 55th Street and Wolf Road with having no valid driver's license, driving with a suspended registration and driving an uninsured car.
